WELCOME TO MY JONES FAMILY

I do not know very much about my Jones family at all.  They originated from Carno Montgomeryshire and the men were builders and carpenters.   Sarah Jones c1873 married William Hamer on 13th November 1896 so William and Sarah were my great-grandparents.

Richard Jones c1840 born Carno married Sarah unknown

1869 Ann Jones born School House, Carno, Montgomeryshire known to the family as Annie and she died aged 88 at Minffordd, Carno on the 19th October 1957.  In 1949 she was at her sister’s Sarah’s funeral.  Annie was buried with her parents Richard and Sarah and Sister Jane (Scott) at Carno Church.

1871 Mary Jones born at School House Carno.

1873 Sarah my great-grandmother born at Carno and married William Hamer 13th November 1896 at Peniel Chapel Carno.  She and William had eight children four boys and four girls.  Her husband William Hamer was a Cattle Drover working on his own account.  They moved to Oswestry living in Victoria Street, Arundel Road and Roft Street.  Sarah died at Roft Street Oswestry on 8th April 1949 and both she and William have a plaque in Carno Church although I believe they were buried in Oswestry (details to follow).

1874 Edward Meredith Jones was born Minffordd Carno.

1875 Jane Jones was born Minffordd.  She died in May 1916, place of death was Toronto Canada.  I would appear that she married because at the time of her death her surname was Scott.  Her body was brought back to Wales and she is buried with her parents and her sister Annie at Carno Church.
