I have the marriage of a William Groves and Mary Andrews 24th August 1751.  This appears in the Meole Brace Parish Registers and has them listed as both from Ratlinghope.  At this time other than a time line with Samuel Groves birth of 1752 I do not know if this is the right couple.

I also have a death of Mary Groves dated 12th February 1803 and buried at Chirbury.  Assuming this is William’s widow, more research needed.

Shelve was part of the lower division of the parish of Chirbury Hundred in the County of Shropshire.  It is situated 16 miles from Shrewsbury and 7 miles north east of Bishops Castle.  It was mostly inhabited by agricultural workers.
